Discovery Lake and Hills

This Ride is one of my simple to get to and fairly short in length. There is a good climb through out the way up, there is 1 small river crossing and you also have to cross streets with horse gates.

TO get to the ride From Highway 78 take Twin oaks road south and turn right on craven. Head west on craven until you see the school and turn right on mcnair. Go to the end cul-d-esack and make the u turn and park

The trail follows the river east for a mile or so. I usually take the reverse Y on the lower loop going up. And come down at the lake

If you are looking for a trail to ride when it has been raining take the trail along the river bottom to discovery lake. Then turn right up the hill along the paved road. Follow the maintained trail to the tip of the hill crossing via vera cruse at its end. Because of the quality DG on this trail it does not get muddy as long as you dont ride the upper or lower loops.

There is a steep hill on the upper loop, if your horse does not like steep you could go up this and do the upper loop in reverse.

There is also a trail around the lake that can be ridden, with trails that head towards the university.

There is an alternate trail head at Orchid ave off of Discovery Dr

For the really Brave energetic: when you get to the top of the mountain, there is a combination of dirt roads and single track trails that will take you to Elfin forest or the Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve.  Ask me if you are interested in going further
