Montaņa de Oro  The park is located sixteen miles southwest of Morro Bay and seven miles south of Los Osos. The name translates to  "Mountain of Gold" comes from the golden wildflowers The Park is 8,000 acres of cliffs, sandy beaches, coastal plains, streams, canyons, and hills, There is a horse campground with stalls Los Osos Oaks State Reserve was one of the 48 California state parks proposed for closure in January 2008 by California's Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger as part of a deficit reduction program but will now stay open due to public outcry.[1]   Reservations can be made via the state reservation system.
