Olivenhain sector of Encinitas trail system

This is a city ride with horse fence along much of the trail. There is a short jaunt through Spooks canyon along what I believe is Escondido creek. Water runs through this creek all year long. Our staging area is at Little Oaks Park located in the Olivenhain city of Encinitas, CA. on Lone Jack Road. This park, has equestrian trailer parking and a small arena. From highway 78 take Rancho Sante Fe south.  Rancho Sante Fe will turn left at a signal continue south for 2-3 stop signs. Turn left at Lone Jack Road right is I believe 11th st) go about mile until you see Little oaks park on your right. This ride crosses many small residential streets but there is only traffic on Lone jack.

From the north end of the park head east on the fence lined trail when the fence ends head north until you hit a street (camino del rancho. Take the trail south until you see the horse crossing. Follow this trail until you have passed all the houses. This is the entrance to spooks canyon. Keep right as you go along the park with the BIG LAWN. Follow along until you get to the first street. Cross and continue up the hill and down. At the next street follow the only horse trail left. 100 feet ahead is a public horse water troph. Continue ahead to the next horse trail crossing. At this point you have many ways to return to little oaks park,

Turning left here will take you through wild flower estates to lone jack

Continuing ahead will take you to fortuna ranch road left return to lone jack. Jog right cross another street jogging right will take you to a T left will take you back around to lone jack. Right will be long loop that will head east the trail turns left at the estates with the private gate. Follow along until the T. turn left here unless you want to ride to elfin forest. The trail turns right at the next street. Follow along a ways. There is a trail that splits off crossing the street. That is nice but either way they join again. Follow straight ahead until you get to lone jack turn left and return to little oaks park.

Seems more difficult than it is because there are not any decisions as there is only follow the trail loop or return
