Vern Whittaker Horse Camp Coyote Canyon Horse Camp

The campground has 10 sites, 40 corrals, and solar powered heated showers. This campground is the staging area for many miles of riding trails.

I have been here but not camped here, rescued a couple of cowboys who left their trailers in Anza and came down without enough water.

Directions: From the Visitor's Center take Borrego Springs Rd. (north) when the road turns right  2nd left at horse camp sign just past Indian Head Ranch Rd.

Also known as Vern Whitaker Horse Camp. Roads may wash out during winter; 4 wheel drive strongly advised! This campground is FOR HORSE CAMPING ONLY! You are limited to 8 people and 2 horses. Carry sufficient water from June to September (water at camp) when temperatures can rise upwards of 120 degrees. Horse trailers park east of stalls, away from campsite. Use only established corrals, NO HOBBLE/TIES TO TRAILERS.
General Information: Park is 600, 000 acres of washes, palm canyons, cacti sweeping vistas and spring wildflowers.
