Wildhorse Equestrian (CA) Description This is the premire equestrian camping in southern california. Campground accesses the Santa Ana River Trail and numerous trails in the San Gorgonio Wilderness Area. Facilities include 30 each 12' x 12' single-horse corrals, 2 flush toilets, water hydrants, 2 showers, picnic tables, fire rings with grates, fire ring's, horseshoe game area, and horse mounting area for visitors needing assistance. Only campers WITH HORSES are permitted to camp at Wildhorse Equestrian Campground. We did encounter the occasional hiking group, and there were some Jeep traffic on the main fire roads, but iys generally quite on the trail. If you plan on going on long, long rides, Stop at the Mill Creek Ranger station on Highway 38 just past Bryant Road near Yucaipa to pick up a map of the wilderness trails and a wilderness permit. If you aren’t carrying the permit with you in the wilderness and you get stopped by the Forest Service volunteers you will be directed to leave the wilderness immediately. However if you are just a few miles from camp the permit is not necessary The meadow loop takes about an hour and lets your horse time to acclimate before more difficult rides. I also recomend to Fish Creek the Trail crosses up towards San Gorgonio and needing wilderness permit as you cross the creek, Services & Amenities: •Fire Rings •Flush Toilets •Showers From I-10 in Redlands, State Highway 38 north approximately 31 miles to Forest Road 1N02.
