Overview: 
The beautiful park of over 26,000 acres offers camping and hiking in an oak woodland forest, 
with a sprinkling of pines and lovely meadows with creeks. There sits at an elevation of 5,000 feet. 
Though fires came through the park in the fall of 2003, the park I(s recovering. 
The Los vaqueros Horse Camp for Groups Is the beat in San Diego County. 

There are 45 stalls/ corrals, a communal covered picnic area and a fire ring.
The parking is difficult when ther are rigs for 45 horses.  Be sure to bring every thing 
you need with you. They do have water spickets, but no containers or hoses. They have a Trailer 
for the manure and a coupple of wheelbarows. Being implements manure rakes or buckets if you can't
push a wheelbarow up a steep ramp. Bring hay or its available nearby in Julian or Descanso.

Besides the hundreds of miles of trails, the State Park has an informative museum 
and gift store you can drive or ride to and the Cuyamaca Lake has some pretty tasty 
trout and catfish for those in the group that dont ride.  I would also recomend the 
Cuyamaca Lake restaruant in case cooking is not your thing.
One thing that continues to attract visitors to the park is the wildlife. The meadows around 
the camp come alive with deer in the mornings and evenings. Every deer hunter in the county 
knows that here are the biggest, most beautiful specimens of mule deer anywhere. You can 
literally see hundreds at times.  The raccoons will visit your camp, so put up your food 
and clean up after yourself. Wild turkeys have been reintroduced and they are everywhere,
